The Pioneer Heritage Festival has been supported by volunteers and residents of Greenwood, Louisiana since 1979. The 38th annual festival is organized by the Town of Greenwood to preserve and promote its local history. Organizers aim to offer everyone an entertaining pioneer experience on Friday, Sept. 15 from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 16 from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the town park located at 9381 Greenwood Rd. in Greenwood.
The festivities open with senior bingo on Friday. On Saturday pancakes will be provided by Greenwood Chamber of Commerce. The festival is a free, family-friendly event that offers a chili cook-off, parade, bass tournament, live music, and more. Come explore the beautifully preserved Dunn House Museum that served as a local hospital in Greenwood from 1839-1881.
