Downtown Vivian, Louisiana has a charm of its own with the traditional brick roads, historic buildings, a community gazebo, as well as other shopping and dining opportunities. One of its greatest assets is Cool Beans Coffee Shop. Cool Beans Coffee Shop is a family-owned hangout spot located in the heart of downtown Vivian. It’s where locals go to catch up and enjoy a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, lunch and pastries. Recently, they rolled out their all-new fall coffee flavors: maple, cupcake, butterscotch, pumpkin spice, and my personal favorite, s’mores.
The s’mores latte is just as scrumptious as it looks.
You can taste all the flavors working together to deliver that chocolaty, marshmallow-y, graham cracker goodness. Customers can blend as many flavors as they want to make their own whimsical coffee dream in a cup. You can even get it prepared iced, frozen or hot. They offer more specialty drinks such as the Cambonesian, inspired by a Cambodian recipe, and frozen hot chocolate. Cool Beans Coffee Shop creates its drinks with the use of organic coffee beans. They use local brands such as Louisiana Roasting Coffee and Mooringsport’s Plantation Gourmet Coffee to provide that home-grown touch in each cup. Along with their specialty drinks, they offer a lunch menu, pastries, pie slices, chips and soft drinks. The affordable lunch menu consists of sandwiches and various soups and chilis to warm you up for the holidays.
Right now, they have pulled pork nachos. These nachos are here for the win!
The pulled-pork is slow cooked and placed on a bed of corn chips, then topped with barbecue sauce and shredded cheese. I added sour cream and jalapenos to my dish because I love a spicy kick, and nachos aren’t nachos without sour cream. It’s a quick play on barbecue flavors with that crunch we all love in our nachos. Where else can you find pulled pork nachos, frozen hot chocolate, and a s’mores latte under one roof? Because of its authenticity, I am forever loyal to this crafty, colorful and caffeinated shop, and I had to know what inspired Amanda Beard, owner of Cool Beans Coffee Shop, to invest in Vivian’s very first coffee shop.
“I have always wanted a restaurant. We have plenty of those here, but there were no coffee shops,” said Beard. “This has not been the easiest journey, but it was all worth the wait. We are excited to add a touch of fall to our menu. The community loves all of the fun monthly flavors, and you should see how this place lights up on Fridays.”
Cool Beans Coffee Shop is located about 30 minutes north of Shreveport. If you’re looking for a unique coffee and dining experience with a quick drive to clear your mind, this is your stop.
