Adults and Adolescents, Tap into Your Wild Side at Jubilee Zoo in Shreveport

The call of the wild is only a 15-minute drive from downtown Shreveport at Jubilee Zoo: Petting Zoo and Play Place, located at 6402 LA-1 in north Shreveport. This outdoor park was crafted for children, but after my recent visit, I would definitely consider this to be a fun place for light-hearted, animal-loving adults also. Jubilee Zoo has a wide variety of fun experiences for their visitors, offering everything from pony rides and hay rides to stuffed animals and play areas, as well as petting baby bunnies and feeding animals twice your size. If I had to categorize all the fun opportunities at Jubilee Zoo, I would organize them based on a person’s emotional attachment and avoidance of animals. So, ask yourself these questions:

Are you intrigued by animals, but prefer not to touch them?

Although Jubilee Zoo is a known for providing petting experiences, it’s important to know that it is also a play place. The property’s landscaping is crafted so that animals are not running amuck, which ensures a comfortable, safe space for any visitor that does not want to interact with the animals. Inside of the gift shop, you can purchase stuffed animals, zoo souvenirs, goat-milk soap, and more. The animals are friendly and interactive, but there’s also a play area with a water sprinkler and playground for little ones who aren’t ready to pet them just yet.

Do you have a deep appreciation for animals and want to take a deeper look into the wild?

If you were raised around pets or own pets, then Jubilee Zoo is your chance to take advantage of getting closer to a few animals that you’ve seen on traditional farms and Discovery Channel, such as goats, cows, ducks, horses, raccoons, camels, zebras, kangaroos, and the largest rabbit I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I was even able to pet and feed an albino horse and bunny. Your entire family will connect with at least one animal there, but don’t leave without jumping on the tractor hayride for a wild adventure. Thank me later!

Have you dreamed of owning your own farm, or maybe becoming a zookeeper?

Jubilee Zoo will bring their furry residents to you. For a personalized petting zoo experience, you can have the following animals transported to your home or event: mini sheep, pygmy goats, bunnies, chickens, ducklings, tortoise, alpacas, mini donkey, mini cow, mini pony, and more. You can host a private safari, organize a barn party, rent the entire park for a day, or take advantage of their portable zoo choo train, which is a barrel train decorated with different animal prints.

For animal lovers across the Ark-La-Tex, your wildest dream is located in Shreveport-Bossier’s backyard at Jubilee Zoo. Be sure to look for the rainbow zebra or you may miss the entrance.
